Devotional: Broken for a Purpose
Scripture Reading: "Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words." (Jeremiah 18:2)
Reflection: In our daily walk, we often view brokenness—whether it be a shattered heart, a failed expectation, or a painful season of loss—as a sign of defeat. Yet, the imagery of the potter and the clay reminds us that brokenness is not the end of our story; it is often the very place where God begins to reshape us.
When we are "whole" in our own strength, we may become filled with pride or self-sufficiency, losing sight of our need for God. When life breaks us, those hard outer shells are softened, allowing the essence of God to pour through our lives and touch others. Like the Liberty Bell, it is often the crack that allows our story to be heard and our testimony to become powerful.
Prayer for Today: Lord, thank You for the seasons of breaking. When I feel like I am falling apart, help me to remember that I am in the hands of the Master Potter. Give me the grace to surrender my pride and allow You to remake me into the vessel You intended. Help me to use my broken pieces to empathize with others and point them back to Your unfailing love. Amen.
