Minister Monique Dornel Burnett
Monique Dornel Burnett was born on May 10, on the island of St. Thomas, United States, Virgin Islands to the late Julian M. Burnett and Myrtle E. Burnett. Monique accepted the Lord as her personal Savior on December 19, 1980. She became a member of the Church of God of Prophecy located at C-5 Estate Hoffman, St. Thomas Virgin Islands in 1982.
After being baptized with the Holy Ghost, she began serving in ministry as the Youth Life Team leader in 1982 under the leadership of Bishop Kenneth M. Benjamin. Sr. Under his leadership, she was appointed VBS assistant leader and Youth Choir Director. She also participated in several church youth productions and plays.
With a sense of God’s calling on her life, in 1985 after graduating from Charlotte Amalie High School, Monique moved to Cleveland, Tennessee to attend Tomlinson College, from which she graduated with a degree in Natural Science.
Desiring to be closer to family, in 1987 Monique moved to Orlando, Florida to continue her studies in Nursing. She Graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing in 1991, a Bachelor Degree in 1998 and finally a Master Degree in Nursing in December of 2010. She has been Nursing for over 29 years; Her current position is an Patient Placement Coordinator at Adventhealth and as a Nurse Practitioner for Digestive and Liver Center of Florida .
In 1988, Monique transferred her church membership to the Orange Center Church of God of Prophecy in Orlando, Florida and serves under the leadership of Bishop Cornelius and Hazel Williams. Under their leadership she has served as, BTI Leader, Women’s Ministry Director, Youth Director, Pastoral Care Leader, Praise Team Leader and Sunday School Superintendent. She also worked at Youth Camp as Camp Nurse and Dean. She is presently serving as Co-Youth Ministry Leader, Visual Operator and Church Treasurer. Her passion is teaching the Word of God and working with the youths.
In 1990, while in nursing school, Monique was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematous, which has left her with many battle scars; despite all, she refuses to allow man’s diagnosis to discourage her. She continues to stand on the promises of God declared Psalms 118:17, “I shall not die, but live and declare the works of the Lord” and Romans 4:20-21,” He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief: but was strong in faith, giving glory to God: And being fully persuaded that , what he had promised, he was able to perform.”
Monique’s desire is to offer the sacrifice of praises to God continually and that the fruit of her lips be giving thanks to His name; to do good and to communicate forgetting not for with such sacrifices God is well please. Finally, to be an example among singles that it is possible to live holy in an unholy world.
