Devotion: Growing in Grace and Faith

Scripture Reading: 2 Peter 1:5-7

Reflection: In Pastor's sermon, we are reminded that salvation is the beginning, not the end, of our walk with God. Just as a child grows, our faith requires daily cultivation. The Apostle Peter encourages us to be diligent in adding specific virtues to our faith—virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and charity (1:38-2:07).

Key Takeaway: We often try to manipulate our circumstances when life gets difficult, but true growth comes from trusting God even when we cannot see the path ahead (14:32-15:39). By practicing self-control (temperance) and waiting on God's timing, we avoid the trap of being "nearsighted" and forgetting the redemption we have already received (26:38-27:51; 35:45-36:04).

Prayer for Today: Lord, thank You for the gift of salvation. Help me to not just rely on faith alone, but to actively build these godly virtues into my life. When I feel tempted to take control of my circumstances, remind me to pause, wait on Your timing, and trust in Your guidance. Keep my vision clear so that I may walk in Your purpose today. Amen.
